Job Crafting: Retain Your Best People Through Purposeful Work
Mega Session 1 | Tuesday, May 9 | 9:30-11:30
It’s no secret that employee turnover is a costly challenge, draining time, momentum, and money from organizations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, up to three million Americans willingly leave their jobs every month. While many factors influence an individual’s decision to resign, malleable reasons like lack of empowerment and lack of recognition top the list. In this hands-on workshop, Rebecca Fraser-Thill, Bates College psychology faculty member and Director of their Purposeful Work initiative, provides an overview on job crafting and purposeful work. Discover ways to craft your own job, learn how to coach others to do the same, and find ways to put the science of job crafting into regular practice as part of weekly meetings and review conversations. In the process, you’ll learn how to address some of the root causes of employee dissatisfaction long before quitting feels like the employee’s best option.
