Overtime Regulation and Compliance in Transition

With the status of the new overtime regulations called into question by potential judicial review and the incoming administration, we’ve called upon two authoritative voices to discuss the current status of the law, what may be coming, and legal compliance issues generally. We are pleased to welcome Steven McKinney, Community Outreach with the US Department of Labor in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Scott Cotnoir, from the Maine Department of Labor. They will provide analysis of overtime and exemption issues based on both Maine and federal law, their key differences, and priority items for enforcement. In addition, they will share the various non-enforcement resources and assistance their departments provide. Engage in a good back and forth with our faculty, and we’ll provide you with an avenue to ask anonymous questions as well. There should be some lively conversation of the impact of the new Overtime Regulations. For example, a recent survey by Fortune magazine suggests that regardless of the political and legal winds, a majority of small businesses are forging ahead with the new threshold and have made the switch in their job descriptions and categorizations of hourly/salaried, exempt/non-exempt and adjustments in their pay scales.
