SHRM's Leader Comes to Maine! Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Human Resource Management and co-author of "The Future of Human Resource Management." We are pleased to welcome her to a Maine stage for the first time, where she will talk about HR Competencies - Setting the Stage for Success. - Angus King
- Brunswick, Maine.
A Lesson in Vision! Angus King was Maine's 72nd Governor and the second Independent to hold that office. His crowning achievements included work on the Land for Maine's Future program and the initiative that provided laptops to Maine's middle school students. Before his two terms as governor, King was a successful businessman and host of the MPBN series "Maine Watch." His keynote session takes us to the forbidding wastes of Antarctica in 1914 and tells the story of the expedition of Ernest Shackleton's ship "Endurance," providing a lesson in leadership principles - as compelling today as they were a hundred years ago.
- Meagan Johnson
- Phoenix, Arizona.
Zap the Gap Guru! Meagan is not an Olympic athlete, and she has a very slow metabolic rate to prove it. She is not a CEO, nor has she brought a company back from the edge of bankruptcy. She is, however, zany and practical at the same time. And in two unforgettable HR keynotes she will help us "unchain our brains," focusing in one instance on understanding and managing the four generations in the workplace and focusing in the other instance on how we become our own worst enemies and what we can do about it... or put in better words, how we can be rational in an emotional work world. You're bound to learn something about yourself and your co-workers.

- Marco Marsan
- Cincinnati, Ohio.
Awaken Your Innate Creativity! Marco Marsan is author of "Who Are You When Nobody's Looking" and two other books. He is the creator of several of America's best known products... and he just entered the Guinness Book of World Records for leading the largest Chicken Dance in history (which took place at Oktoberfest in Cincinnati and comprised 43,000 dancers). He's got two boffo presentations in store for the HR Convention: Think Naked, which encourages childlike brilliance in the rough adult world; and Stack the Deck, which will help you take the guesswork out of the innovative process.

Author, Management Consultant, Attorney, and HR Star! Margaret Morford is president of the HRedge consulting and training firm. She brings her skills as an HR professional and employment law attorney to the table and has spoken at SHRM conferences in 36 states (including Maine last year). Margaret offers up two sophisticated presentations: a keynote called "Earning Respect for HR: Putting Spectacles on the Elephant" and a senior-level workshop called "What Eagles Dare: The Critical Difference Between Managing and Leading." - Norm Bossio
- West Barnstable, Massachusetts.
The Irrepressible One is Back! Norm Bossio has been a staple at the Maine HR Convention for most of our 13-year history, He took a breather in 2007, but he is returning in 2008 all fired up to talk about HR 20/20 Vision in his all new keynote on performance appraisals labeled: "Monkey See, Monkey Do?" His "How to Stay Motivated on the Deck of the Titanic" is now a book and a PBS special. He'll offer an encore presentation of that program as a workshop for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing Norm in action. Be prepared to laugh and cry, often at the same time.
